I have earlier reviewed the VSO ConvertXtoDVD and I summed it up as :
When I used this application for a few weeks I have learned that it is very easy to use, and at the same time it is possible to configure about anything about the DVD behavior in depth. You can configure DVD menu themes, colors, sounds, text-styles, how many chapters that will be on each menu, how many chapters which will be presented in general, skip-timings – anything! I have not had any problems with the software eighter, it is dead solid and no failures or errors occurred. I have tried numerous similar applications earlier (trials and free software) and I have had problems with software crashing or not recognizing the input file format.
Now, VSO is back with a new application called VSO DVD Converter Ultimate – which does the complete opposite – it let’s you convert a DVD into (almost) any Video-file format. This is very handy to have installed when you want to see your new DVD on your iPhone or iPad, or perhaps you want to convert it into a file you can stream to your PS3 or Xbox – many possibilities!
First of all. The GUI is clean and easy to use. They have by default few buttons so that you can easily convert your DVD without any hassle!
You can choose the output you want easily from the menu.
NB: If you try to convert a DVD with copy-protection, you will be warned by DVD Converter, and given advises on what software (free and commercial software) you need to download to also being able to convert these DVD’s. I ended up with Slysofts AnyDVD (trial 21 days) – worked like a charm.
You can set the target size easily to get your files into the right size of a CD, two CD’s or perhaps a DVD (it is also possible to set the size you want or no size limit at all).
Oh yes, I have tried to capture the difference between 4 converter settings, ripping the movie “Fantastic 4″ – 4 times using different settings. The video is not 100% accurate since it converts the videos into its own HD format in the end – but if you run the video in 1080p resolution and pause the video in the comparison, you can see quality changes between the formats. You can see the difference here :
Summary : The software is easy to use and it does what it is supposed to do in a stable matter. It is also quite fast, thanks to multi-core processor support and NVIDIA CUDA compatibility. I recommend this application when it comes to DVD conversion!
